Central University of Finance and Economics

The Central University of Finance and Economics was founded in 1949 as the first higher education institution in finance and economics established by the People's Republic of China. It remains closely tied to the Chinese financial system and its graduates are heavily represented in the central bank, the regulatory bodies and the state banks. For a Kazakh applicant intending banking or financial regulation, that placement matters more than a general ranking. The relevant question is not where the university sits in a global table but where its graduates work, and the answer here is the institutions that run Chinese finance. The university hosts an international cultural festival and has an established international student presence, though its programmes are predominantly Chinese-taught. It is distinct from the University of International Business and Economics, also in Beijing, which specialises in trade rather than domestic finance.
