Donghua University was founded in 1951 as the East China Institute of Textile Technology and remains China's leading institution for textile science and materials engineering. It also teaches fashion design, management, computing and environmental science. Its international profile is the reason to consider it. Around 4,827 of its 28,497 students are international, roughly 17%, which places it among the most internationally populated universities in China. It has hosted students from almost 140 countries. That matters practically for a Kazakh applicant. An admissions office processing thousands of international applications a year is more likely to have seen a Kazakh attestat before, and a student arrives among peers who have navigated the same visa, banking and accommodation questions. The textile and fashion specialism is genuine rather than historical, and Donghua is the primary Chinese institution in that field.
