Jinan University

Jinan University is unusual among Chinese universities in that its purpose is educating students from outside mainland China. Founded in 1906 and administered under the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office rather than the Ministry of Education alone, it was established to serve overseas Chinese communities and has extended that to international students generally. For a Kazakh applicant that mandate is the argument. An institution built around teaching students who arrive from elsewhere, rather than one that added international admissions to a domestic operation, is structurally better prepared for the questions an overseas student actually has. One naming point needs stating plainly. Jinan University is in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. It is not in Jinan, the capital of Shandong province roughly 1,800 kilometres north, where Shandong University is the major institution. Jinan University also operates a campus in Zhuhai and the Shenzhen Tourism College.
