Shanghai University of Finance and Economics

Shanghai University of Finance and Economics traces its origins to 1917 and is among China's leading specialist institutions in finance and economics, part of Project 211 and the Double First-Class Initiative. It has around 12,666 undergraduates. Two admissions details distinguish it. Its age range for international undergraduates is 18 to 45, considerably wider than most leading Chinese universities and wider than Tongji's 18 to 25. And its application fee is CNY 830, the highest recorded anywhere in the Chinese catalogue. It publishes its living cost estimates, which few Chinese universities do: on-campus housing at CNY 1,200 to CNY 3,600 a month depending on room type, and food up to CNY 1,500 a month. The Shanghai Government Scholarship Type B, which covers full tuition and medical insurance, is open only to undergraduates and is available on English-medium courses as well as Chinese-medium ones.
