Tsinghua University

Tsinghua University was founded in 1911 and is a member of the C9 League, generally ranked alongside Peking University at the top of Chinese higher education. It is strongest in engineering, computer science, architecture and management. For a Kazakh applicant intending engineering or computer science, Tsinghua is the most direct comparison to a top-ten global institution that is reachable at Chinese tuition levels. Tuition for undergraduates at Zhishan College, where Tsinghua admits its international students, is CNY 26,000 a year on the university's own figure. Its School of Economics and Management ranks among the leading business schools globally and partners with MIT Sloan. Admission is highly competitive. Chinese-taught programmes commonly require HSK 5, which is a serious language commitment for a school leaver starting from no Chinese.
