Canterbury Christ Church University is a public university in Kent, teaching education and teacher training, health and social care, business, the creative arts and the humanities across campuses in Canterbury and Medway. Education and teacher training are its historic strength, and they carry a question that decides the value of the degree rather than merely its cost: whether professional registration and employment in UK schools is open to a non-UK national after graduation. A teaching qualification that does not lead to registration is worth far less than it appears, and the same applies to its nursing and policing provision. The University of Kent is also in Canterbury and publishes considerably more Kazakh-specific detail — including that it accepts a foundation course taken at a college in Kazakhstan, which removes an entire year of UK fees and living costs. An applicant considering Canterbury should read both institutions together rather than either alone. Canterbury is a small cathedral city with living costs below the London average and above northern England.
