LAMDA, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, was founded in 1861 and is the oldest drama school in Britain. It teaches acting, directing, stage management and technical theatre. Its international fee for the three-year BA (Hons) Professional Acting is GBP 26,631 a year — GBP 79,893 across the degree. That is above Rose Bruford at GBP 24,150 and the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts at GBP 23,450, and below the London music conservatoires. The application itself is inexpensive, which is worth saying because conservatoire application costs are often assumed to be prohibitive. LAMDA charges the GBP 27.50 UCAS Conservatoires registration fee, covering six choices, plus GBP 15 for a first-round audition — the same for UK and international applicants. Places are limited because LAMDA prioritises small-group teaching, which makes admission competitive. Applicable students may be invited to a final-year showcase in New York.
