Public specialist conservatoire of music and drama
GBP 20,900 (2026/27)
Leeds Conservatoire teaches classical, jazz, popular and commercial music alongside musical theatre, drama and music production. That breadth sets it apart from the traditional conservatoires: an applicant intending popular music, production or musical theatre has few conservatoire-level options in the UK, and this is among the most established. It is also the cheapest conservatoire route here, and the only one to fix its fees. Music is GBP 20,900 a year and drama GBP 21,300, both fixed for the duration of the course. Three years of music comes to GBP 62,700 against roughly GBP 124,000 for four years at the Royal College of Music. It publishes its scholarship terms more fully than any other conservatoire here. Eight awards of GBP 5,000 go to new international undergraduates starting in September 2026, decided on audition and personal statement — which confirms what is generally true at conservatoires and rarely stated: the audition decides funding as well as admission. One term is demanding: 50% of tuition must be paid before the CAS can be issued.
