Nottingham Trent publishes the most generous scholarship range a Kazakh applicant will find at a British university, and it publishes it plainly: awards 'range from GBP 2,000 up to 50% off your tuition fees', applied as tuition reductions once a student enrols. It is competitive rather than automatic, but not narrow. The university states it awarded 'over 1,300 scholarships to students from more than 80 countries' in a single year, which puts the odds in a different category from a scheme handing out a handful. One application form covers everything: 'you only need to submit one application form and you will be considered for all the scholarships and awards you are eligible for'. An offer of a place is required first. Nottingham Trent is a large modern university drawing students from more than 160 countries, known for fashion, art and design, architecture, psychology and sports science. A portfolio is required for design and art courses, which covers a substantial share of what draws international students here.
