Queen Margaret is a small specialist university at Musselburgh on the eastern edge of Edinburgh, concentrating on health professions, education, business, media and performance. It is not a general university, and subject fit has to be settled before anything else — a student wanting engineering, law or the physical sciences will not find the programme here at all. Where the subject does match, the specialism is real. Speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, dietetics and podiatry are taught to professional accreditation, and a small institution generally means more contact with staff than a large one. An international scholarship awarded on grade average rather than by competition is worth asking about, in the region of GBP 3,000 to GBP 9,000. If such an award exists, the structure is unusually favourable — a threshold can be planned against in advance, where a competitive award cannot. Confirm it with Queen Margaret before counting on it.
