University of Bradford

The University of Bradford is known for engineering, health and pharmacy, management, and — distinctively — peace studies. Its Department of Peace Studies and International Development is the largest of its kind in the world, which for a student intending international relations, conflict resolution or development is a genuine specialism rather than a claim. Bradford sits in one of the cheapest parts of England, twenty minutes by rail from Leeds — so a student has access to a larger city's amenities and labour market while paying small-city rents. It also has a substantial established international community, which for a student arriving alone means existing support networks, familiar food and a city used to international students rather than surprised by them.
