University of Northampton

The University of Northampton is a public university in the East Midlands, teaching business, health, education, computing, engineering and the creative arts from a single campus at Waterside, opened in 2018. Its international scholarship is worth GBP 2,000, GBP 3,000 or up to GBP 4,000 a year and is payable in each year of the programme, assessed on academic merit automatically and stated in the offer letter. Over three years that is GBP 6,000 to GBP 12,000. One condition needs planning for well before term. To accept a scholarship, a student must pay GBP 7,000 of the first year's tuition before the CAS is issued, with the remainder in two instalments. That is the highest pre-CAS payment attached to an award anywhere so far, and it means the scholarship costs money before it saves any. The Waterside campus is among the newest in the UK, purpose-built and self-contained, with accommodation, teaching and social facilities together — a practical advantage for a student arriving alone. Northampton is roughly an hour from London by rail while sitting outside the London boroughs, so the lower maintenance figure applies.
