University of Roehampton

The University of Roehampton is a public university on a parkland campus in south-west London, teaching education, psychology, business, dance, health and the humanities. Roehampton names Kazakhstan explicitly on its scholarship list, which almost no UK university does. Its Country Scholarship B is open to nationals of, and residents in, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Taiwan, Turkey, Mexico and South Africa. But the tier matters as much as the naming. Country Scholarship B pays GBP 1,500 a year, while Country Scholarship A pays GBP 2,500 a year to a longer list running from Bangladesh and Nepal to Nigeria and Kenya. Kazakhstan is named — on the cheaper of the two country awards, GBP 1,000 a year below the other. The practical conclusion runs the other way from the headline. Roehampton's International Excellence Scholarship is worth up to GBP 4,000 a year for three years and is open to all international students on merit. Because awards cannot be combined and only the highest is paid, a strong Kazakh applicant should pursue the Excellence award rather than the country one.
