St Andrews is in Scotland, so its standard undergraduate degree runs four years rather than three. Against an English university charging the same annual fee that is roughly a third more in total, plus a fourth year of living costs and additional Immigration Health Surcharge. St Andrews publishes a dedicated Kazakhstan page covering 'the academic and English language requirements, as well as information on fees, scholarships and visas', which is unusually complete and repays reading in full. Its position is that the attestat needs supplementing: 'If you have graduated from a high school with a national school leaving certificate, we would also expect you to have one of the following: Foundation programme certificate: Our International Foundation Programmes offer a range of programmes providing excellent preparation for undergraduate academic study.' St Andrews emphasises individual assessment: 'Undergraduate and postgraduate academic requirements are for general guidance.
