Education University of Hong Kong

The Education University of Hong Kong was founded in 1994 as the Hong Kong Institute of Education and gained university status in 2016. It is the territory's specialist teacher education institution and is funded by the University Grants Committee. Non-local tuition is 180,000 Hong Kong dollars for 2026/27 against 47,000 for local students, published by the university and described as provisional and subject to adjustment. For a Kazakh applicant one question governs everything else, and it is not academic. Teaching is a nationally regulated profession, and a Hong Kong education degree does not automatically permit teaching in Kazakhstan. Whether it leads to registration at home should be established with the Kazakh authorities before applying. If the answer is no, the degree still has value for a graduate intending to teach in Hong Kong, internationally, or in the international school sector where Hong Kong qualifications are well regarded. But that is a different plan and should be chosen deliberately rather than discovered in a final year.
