Case Western Reserve University

CWRU is a mid-sized private research university built from a 1967 federation of a liberal arts college and an engineering institute, and that split still shapes it: engineering and biological sciences together account for roughly 39% of bachelor's degrees awarded, with nursing and management as the other two undergraduate schools. Admission is holistic with no minimum GPA or test score, and the university is meaningfully more selective for international applicants than overall — 21% of international applicants were admitted for Fall 2025 against 35% of all applicants. It is one of the smaller number of US private universities that extends institutional need-based grant aid to non-resident undergraduates, not just merit awards, but the CSS Profile is mandatory to be considered and an incomplete aid file holds up the admission decision itself. There is no separate international deadline or application route: internationals use the same Common App or Coalition dates as domestic applicants. Applicants pursuing music or music education must add an Arts Supplement, due 15 days after the application deadline.
