Clark University

Clark is a small research university in Worcester, an hour west of Boston, and it offers international students genuine need-based aid rather than merit alone. Applicants file the CSS Profile alongside the application and are assessed for Clark-funded need-based assistance as well as automatic merit consideration. Clark is equally direct about the consequence. Its admissions process is need-aware, an application may be denied if indicated financial need exceeds what Clark can fund, and it states outright that it cannot admit international students requiring full funding. It also publishes what few universities will: international students typically pay around USD 40,000 a year against a total cost of roughly USD 85,000. There is no application fee. English proficiency has no fixed minimum and is judged holistically, with a language-support pathway for those who fall short. For a Kazakh applicant with real financial need and strong academics, Clark is one of the few genuinely open doors. For one needing full funding, Clark says plainly not to expect it.
