The College of Wooster

The College of Wooster is a liberal arts college in Ohio whose international aid model is distinctive and unusually honest. Its Wooster International Scholarship is a single combined need-and-merit award, shown on the letter of acceptance itself. Wooster states it does its best to meet 100% of an international student's institutionally determined need for students who accurately represent their finances, and then states the corollary that most institutions leave unsaid: 'If we feel we are not able to meet a student's financial needs, it is our practice not to offer admission.' It also says plainly that it cannot offer full-ride scholarships to international students, preferring to spread funds across more students. International students are eligible for the Presidential Scholar full-tuition award. Wooster asks for proof of English proficiency rather than a fixed test score.
