Private Jesuit research university
USD 56,930 (2026/27)
Loyola University Chicago is a Jesuit research university on the north side of Chicago with more than 12,000 students. Its Rome Start programme lets an international student begin at Loyola's Rome campus rather than in Chicago, which is a rare option among US universities. There is no application fee on either application route. Loyola is firm on English — it refuses to waive proficiency on grounds of country of origin or medium of instruction — but flexible in how it can be evidenced, accepting SAT or ACT scores in place of an English test and reviewing AP and IB transcripts for a waiver. Its deadlines are priority rather than absolute: Loyola continues to admit after 1 December for autumn entry as long as space remains.
