Suffolk University

Suffolk sits on Tremont Street in downtown Boston with no conventional campus — the city is the campus — and runs three units: the College of Arts and Sciences, the Sawyer Business School and a Law School. Its defining characteristic for an international applicant is how deliberately it lowers procedural barriers. Twelve separate routes satisfy the English requirement, several of them self-reportable and requiring no paid test. The application fee is waived for anyone who visits, in person or virtually. And on credentials Suffolk does something no other university here does: it attempts to evaluate a foreign transcript internally first, and only asks the applicant to pay for a NACES evaluation if it cannot — explicitly telling applicants to check with their counsellor before spending the money. Admission is rolling for autumn entry after a February priority date, which suits an applicant whose documents arrive late. The practical warning Suffolk itself gives is about visas rather than admission: apply before 15 November for spring entry or there may not be time to secure an F-1.
