Wentworth Institute of Technology

Wentworth is a technical institute on Huntington Avenue in Boston built around co-operative education, with five schools covering architecture and design, computing and data science, engineering, management, and sciences and humanities. Almost every engineering and computing degree is ABET-accredited and many are STEM-designated, which extends OPT work eligibility by 24 months beyond the standard year — a material difference for a Kazakh graduate wanting US work experience. International students make up 7% of enrolment, drawn from 64 countries. The significant development for 2026 entry is financial. Starting with the Class of 2030, Wentworth is making a limited number of resource-based International Grants available to admitted international students, alongside merit scholarships awarded on secondary school performance. The catch is procedural and unforgiving. An applicant must declare on the admission application itself that they intend to apply for need-based aid, and must apply before receiving an admission decision. Wentworth publishes admissions material in Spanish and Mandarin but not Russian or Kazakh.
