Franklin University Switzerland

Franklin University Switzerland is a private university institute in Lugano, founded 1969, with around 386 undergraduates and an average class size of 16. It is accredited in both the United States, by the Middle States Association, and in Switzerland. Its distinctive feature is Academic Travel. Each semester students take a three-credit course with a Franklin professor that includes a ten-day travel period, so structured international exposure is a curricular requirement rather than an extracurricular option. The cost is the highest recorded here outside medicine and Duke Kunshan. Four-year bachelor's programmes are reported between 117,000 and 220,000 Swiss francs in total, and one source describes Franklin as the most expensive American university in Europe. One matter should be established directly. In 2024 the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung reported deficiencies in Franklin's academic governance. What that concerned, and what has changed since, is worth asking about before committing.
